Who are you?

Hi there! I'm Emily. It's really nice to meet you.

 

I get it. I'm a busy mom of 3 who doesn't have a ton of time or money to spend on fashion either. I certainly can't spend every weekend out shopping the local boutiques to find unique jewelry designs.

 

So when I decided I was tired of looking like all the other moms in my town (you know- the suburban mom starter kit outfit of Amazon dupe leggings, baggy sweatshirt and Lulu cross-body bag), I thought the easiest way to step up my fashion game would be with some fun, unique (but not gaudy) statement earrings.

 

I went online to find some but unfortunately everything else out there is too heavy, not hypoallergenic, made in a sweatshop overseas (those websites selling things extremely cheaply means they are using some extremely cheap labor too), or made from leather. I'm an animal lover, so I figured I'd rather have jewelry NOT made from our furry friends if I could help it...The earrings I found that weren't any of those things just weren't my style. They were typically REALLY big and gaudy or just not my vibe (think pink lightning bolts). I'm more of a Joanna Gaines than a Kim K. I love the rustic chic boho vibe and I just wasn't finding it.

 

For the past 20 years, I've always enjoyed crafting and making things (quilts, costumes, clothes, furniture restoration, interior design) so I decided to try making my own earrings. I did some research and thought that cork was a good place to start since it was extremely lightweight, durable, sustainable and came in a huge variety of fun colors and patterns (sourced from small artisans in Portugal). After several tries, I made my first pair and started wearing them out.

 

I got sooo many compliments, and I couldn't believe how light they were. Then my friends and family couldn't stop asking where I got them. Once I told them I made them myself, they were amazed and kept asking if I'd make some for them! And now I make Creek+Elm earrings for every woman that wants to leave the house in comfort, feeling cute and confident in her style choices.

what Do You Mean, All-Day wear?

Because Creek+Elm earrings are so lightweight and are also hypo-allergenic you can wear them all-day without getting sore and painful ears or a headache. They're also extremely versatile and can be worn with all varieties of outfits, from dressing up your athleisure to adding a pop of color to your date night look.

How in the world are these big statement earrings so comfortable?

First of all, they are ultra-lightweight because of the quality materials I use. I've chosen some of nature's most durable- yet lightweight- mediums to construct my earrings. Materials like cork, walnut, and resin.

 

I've also made a commitment to keep my earring hardware completely nickel-free. That means all of the hardware I use is again, extremely durable but also extremely lightweight stainless steel.

 

Most of our earrings, including those in the Driftless Wild Trio, weigh less than 1 OUNCE! That's actually less than a feather (and yes, I've weighed a feather to check!).

Where do you get your cork?

All of my cork is purchased in small batches from vendors in Portugal. These are limited edition patterns, which means you can be confident in knowing that your earrings will help you stand out instead of blending in all the time. You won't see these earrings everywhere you go.

How does my purchase give back?

I'm so glad you asked! A portion of every sale supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, helping families in need. It is seriously my favorite day every month when I log onto their donation portal and give.

 

In addition, being a small woman and veteran-owned business means with every purchase you are making a difference in the lives of an actual, real-life family!

where are these earrings made?

Each pair is handcrafted in my cozy Wisconsin home studio with care and attention to detail.

How long will it take to get my order?

I know we're all used to free 2 day shipping (or even same day sometimes), but since I make all my earrings by hand and do all the packing and shipping myself- it takes a little bit longer. I make every effort to have all orders out the door within 5 business days of you placing your order, and then it just really depends on the US Postal Service. I do have an expedited shipping option if a few days will make a difference- but it will still take me up to 5 days to get them to the Post Office.

What are your shipping rates?

All orders $60 and above ship free. Otherwise I offer economy shipping for $6 or priority shipping for $10. Just remember if you choose priority shipping that means the USPS will deliver it faster, but unfortunately I still can't make the earrings any faster.

Do you ship outside the us?

As of now we will ship to Canada, however the shipping cost will be higher. Maybe someday we'll be worldwide!

Do you do custom orders?

Not at this time. That being said, I have gotten inspiration from clients before and that has led to some really cool designs that then become available to everyone. Feel free to email me at emily@creekandelm.com if you have an idea.
